Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has noted the impact supporters made during yesterday’s derby win over Rangers, feeling that they more than played their part in helping to secure the victory.
Celtic Park was entirely unified in support of the Bhoys with no Rangers away fans in attendance as the disagreement between both clubs on allocations continues.
Asked about that post-match, Postecoglou only wanted to praise the fans and indeed felt they lifted his players in pursuit of the three points.

The Celtic boss said [The Scotsman]: “The support was outstanding today, unbelievable. What an atmosphere, again you feel privileged to be part of that. I am sure the players really got energised by it. The fans were just willing the team on. They were a threat at set pieces, we had a couple of nervy minutes but you could still see the fans were picking them up.
“In the context of the league, we’re 12 points in front with seven games to go. But aside from that, this group of players has had an outstanding season so far. And to continually find a way to win a game of football, to score goals and deliver again – that’s the key part for me. Everything else, you can analyse. But that spirit they have is undeniable.”
Before the game, Postecoglou talked about the synergy between this group of players and the fans. It’s even stronger now as the highs of last season when the Australian was a whirlwind coming into the club.
There were definitely some difficult moments during yesterday’s 90 minutes and you could feel that in the crowd. But that’s natural in such a high-stakes match.
What’s key is that the fans continued to give their full backing to the players and supported them, rather than let anxiety take too much hold for extended periods. There was always belief we’d find the way to win. That’s the trust Ange and his players have earned.
