Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on Kyogo Furuhashi after the striker bagged yet another goal against Livingston last night.

The Hoops picked up an emphatic 3-0 win last night after a dazzling first-half display of football. Postecoglou’s men raced into a three-goal lead before half-time thanks to goals from Kyogo, Greg Taylor and Daizen Maeda.

Kyogo has now netted 18 times in 22 appearances in the Scottish Premiership this season, with an extra three to his tally in all competitions.

While Postecoglou was delighted with last night’s performance as a collective, he singled out the Japanese forward for praise.

Postecoglou praises Kyogo

Speaking to BBC Sportsound after last night’s win, the 57-year-old claimed Celtic are a much better side when Kyogo is in the starting line-up.

“I thought we were good tonight. We started the game really well, we knew we would have a lot of possession but it was what we did with it and I thought we were always probing and asking questions,” Postecoglou said.

“Second half, Livingston didn’t really open up so it wasn’t like we were going to get bags of chances. I still thought we controlled it well, we just never got the goal.”

“He is a quality player, he is always a threat. Even when there isn’t a lot of space, he finds it with his running, it disturbs the opponent,” he added, in reaction to Kyogo netting 21 times this season.

“He has composure in his finishing, passion and energy and his appetite to work on everything makes us a better team.”

Last night’s win saw the Hoops maintain their commanding position at the top of the table, with Rangers sitting nine points behind.

Kyogo is clearly thriving at Celtic Park and he’s enjoying a season of new heights in terms of his goalscoring, have already surpassed last year’s tally.

Postecoglou will certainly be hoping Kyogo continues that form over the course of the season, with the Bhoys plotting yet another domestic treble this year.
