Ange Postecoglou has heaped praise on Aaron Mooy after Celtic beat Hearts 3-0 in the Scottish Cup yesterday.

The Bhoys are still dreaming of a domestic treble after they booked their place in the semi-finals of the cup with a 3-0 win on Saturday.

Celtic put in a much improved display against Robbie Neilson’s men after a less convincing performance at Celtic Park earlier this week.

Mooy got Postecoglou’s men off to a dream start as he finished excellently after some brilliant work from Jota down the right-hand side.

The 32-year-old has established himself as an integral part of this Celtic side since returning from the World Cup and Postecoglou certainly appreciates his contributions.

Postecoglou praises ‘quality’ Mooy

Speaking to Celtic’s official YouTube channel after yesterday’s win, Postecoglou was full of praise for the Australian midfielder.

“Yeah, he’s a good player. He’s a very good player,” the Hoops boss said.

“He’s really a key contributor to us now. Just as much about his calmness and his ability to not let the circumstances around him affect what he does. He’s a player who’s played at the highest level and you see that quality.”

Mooy has now registered seven goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances for Celtic in all competitions this season.

The midfielder only established his place in Postecoglou’s side after returning from his trip to Qatar with Australia, so his numbers are pretty impressive.

Celtic put in a commanding performance yesterday at a difficult place to go in Tynecastle Park. Postecoglou will undoubtedly be delighted that his side made a brilliant start to the game, which helped to settle down the home crowd at Hearts.

Mooy’s effort was an outstanding finish on his weaker foot, but it was probably bested by Kyogo Furuhashi’s stunning backheel.

Cameron Carter-Vickers rounded off an impressive display with a cool headed finish and Postecoglou will be delighted after his players have faced a gruelling fixture schedule over the past week.
