Celtic celebrated Trophy Day with a thumping 5-0 victory at home to Aberdeen on Saturday, with superstar Kyogo Furuhashi grabbing a double, defender Carl Starfelt scoring a rare goal and Hyeongyu Oh securing a brace of his own off the bench.

The Japanese striker netted both of his goals before the interval, allowing Celtic Park to get into party mode early for the big post-match trophy lift. Starfelt enjoyed his big moment after a towering header from a 79th-minute set piece. Then, Oh added the cherries on top with a nicely headed effort of his own from a sumptuous Jota cross and a poaching effort that followed up the Portuguese’s 89th-minute free-kick effort.

After the match, manager Ange Postecoglou took to the stadium microphone as expected and delivered a superb address to the Celtic support.

The Bhoys boss said: “Champions again. We’re champions again because of this incredible group of players, brilliantly led by our skipper Callum McGregor. Champions again because of this unbelievable group of people working behind the scenes, this group of staff, outstanding.

“Champions again because of you. In the words of the immortal Tommy Burns, you are always there, always. Champions again, because I am a lucky man. And we’ve got one more to go – we never stop!”

Needless to say, his words got a massive response from the 60,000 crowd, who have taken Postecoglou to their hearts since he arrived in Glasgow almost two years ago.

He’s set the tone for the team to now go on and win a superb treble of trophies for just the eighth time in the club’s entire history. Inverness Caledonian Thistle await at Hampden in the Scottish Cup final next week.

Today was the perfect way to build up to that occasion. Postecoglou is clearly eyeing history – and why not? Celtic are utterly dominant in Scotland at the moment and are red hot favourites to secure the achievement. Today could be the start of a special, special week to be a supporter.
