Here at 67 Hail Hail we always like to keep a close eye on what the opposition are up to. We are regularly scouring local press and club websites for the latest news and updates on teams Celtic will be facing, especially in anticipation of a big European tie.
Much of the chat at Celtic this week will revolve around the trip to Wales. Meanwhile, FC Midtjylland are in Poland for their own training camp.
The squad are currently in place at the Hotel Remes Sport & Spa in Opalenica. They’ve been undergoing some light training today in preparation for friendly matches this week.
New manager Bo Henriksen said of the trip to FCM.dk: “We are at a beautiful place near nature, and the facilities are top-notch. It was great to get out on the grass yesterday, even though it was a calm workout after the journey down here.
“In the coming days, we will have the opportunity to work on the tactical aspects at both ends of the field, just as the physical facets must be optimized. The season opener is only 11 days away, so it’s an important week for us, and we need to make sure to get into a flow. We have the optimal framework for this here.”
While Midtjylland represents Celtic’s first competitive fixture of the season, the Danes will actually play a league match prior to their Celtic Park trip. They face OB on Friday, July 16th.
Before that though there are friendly games against Lech Poznan and Sigma Olomouc.
It’s easy to forget, with all the change at Celtic, that Midtjylland are also going through a transition of their own. Henriksen was only appointed at Midtjylland at the end of May and, like Ange Postecoglou, has to blend his players to a new tactical style.
He told FCM.dk: “In relation to the defensive part, we look at our press and counter-press. How do we work in defence and how do we push high? Then there is the offensive, where we work on penetrating and how we can best put our attacking players on stage. That’s the process we’re working on now, and we do not have much time to start, but we are confident. We have to win from day one.

“It will not be a revolution, but small adjustments, and we must build on the foundation that is already strong and has moved the club far in recent seasons.”
The situation may be a little bit more stable for the Danes, but as we pointed out earlier they have serious problems of their own including Erik Sviatchenko openly talking about a potential exit and their goalkeeping options looking even worse than ours.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Celtic heading into what is a massive fixture. We’ll continue to monitor what Midtjylland are up to ahead of the Paradise clash on 20th July.
