Unless you support Rangers, there’s not a person in the world who can’t be happy for James Forrest.

With seconds of the game to go, Forrest scored for the 16th season running against St Mirren to rescue a point for Celtic.

In a game where the likes of Arne Engels disappointed, it was the 33-year-old who changed the game when he was introduced as a substitute, replacing Nicolas Kuhn.

Plenty of Forrest’s teammates waxed lyrical about the homegrown hero and so did plenty of other faces and clubs from around the world.

Joe Hart was one of the many to react to Forrest’s magic moment on his Instagram and Athletic Club also followed suit.

The Basque club have a long-standing friendship with the Bhoys and were the club of choice for Forrest’s testimonial in August, 2023.

Replying to Celtic’s tweet paying homage to the winger, Athletic Club said: “Legend. One-Club Man in the making.”

Brendan Rodgers’ touching tribute to James Forrest

Speaking to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard after the game, the Celtic manager was full of praise for Forrest and commended him for the impact he has had at the club over the course of the past 16 seasons.

Rodgers said: “I’m so pleased for him. I think at any level to do it, but to do it at a club like this here, and at any big club where there’s pressures, it’s a remarkable achievement. It’s a testament to him and his hunger, his desire, his professionalism, all the things that it takes to be a top player.

The noise, I think there was so much goodwill for James to do it and you sensed it as the season came towards the end. The noise was absolutely amazing. I think it’s absolutely amazing for him and his family and clearly for us. It gives the stadium a real good feeling.
