Celtic were back in Scottish Premiership action against Hibs on Saturday but failed to secure all three points.

The Hoops could only draw 0-0 with the Hibees at Parkhead as the visitors defended admirably to shut Celtic out across 94 minutes of play.

Marcelo Saracchi and Sebastian Tounekti linked up well on the left wing, while Kelechi Iheanacho was sharp and probably should have scored one or two.

Celtic dominated but lacked a clinical touch, with just six shots on target out of 26 efforts on goal in total.

Pat Bonner watched the game for BBC Sportsound and explained what he saw from Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers on the touchline during the game.

Bonner says Rodgers was frustrated on the sidelines vs Hibs

Bonner noticed that Rodgers was getting frustrated inside Celtic’s technical area as he watched his side fail to convert the many chances they had.

He said: “The play was good, the intensity was good, they passed the ball with intent. In two thirds of the pitch, very, very good. But the final third…

“The longer the game went on and on, the more frustrated the players became, the fans became, even Brendan Rodgers was frustrated on the sideline.

“It was that final ball that was rushed. They were getting into very, very good positions, but at times they were rushing it and they just needed a little more composure on the ball.”

Celtic vs Hibs stats prove one thing

Celtic had 26 efforts on goal with Iheanacho and Callum McGregor having multiple shots in the game, but to no avail.

In comparison, Hibs had just one shot on target through Martin Boyle in the first-half, proving all they cared about was defending deep.

And in fairness, it worked for David Gray’s men because Celtic did not have the know-how to earn the three points.

There were plenty of good attacking moments and the speed of play was good, but the final finish was the only thing missing.

It’s disappointing for Rodgers who sees Hearts jump ahead of the Bhoys in the Premiership table on Saturday night.
