Benjamin Nygren did something for Celtic against Falkirk that nobody has done since Kyogo Furuhashi

Everything Benjamin Nygren touches turns into goals at the moment.

Nygren is Celtic’s top scorer and he added to his tally with a wonderful goal in the 2-0 win against Falkirk.

His effort was a brilliant half volley that looped over Scott Bain to double the hosts’ lead and ensure they would walk away with three points.

The 24-year-old has had his fair share of critics this season but, as well as bagging his 15th of the season, he also replicated a feat once achieved by Kyogo Furuhashi.

Tomas Cvancara and Benjamin Nygren scored, but who was your Celtic man of the match against Falkirk?

Benjamin Nygren’s goalscoring run against Falkirk continues

Falkirk must be sick of the sight of Nygren, as he got on the scoresheet again.

Celtic’s 1-0 win against Falkirk a few weeks ago was decided by Nygren’s header and he also got on the scoresheet for the first game of Martin O’Neill’s second stint in charge.

By scoring in the third league meeting against Falkirk, Nygren became the first player since Kyogo to score in three separate league games against the same opposition in a single season.

Kyogo joined that club by scoring in three separate Glasgow derby games against Rangers in the 2022/23 campaign.

Where would Celtic be in the league without Benjamin Nygren this season?

There have been mixed reviews about Nygren’s first season at Celtic, with some questioning what he has to offer to the team.

15 goals in all competitions is seriously impressive, with 11 of those coming in the league. However, where would Celtic be without them?

On average, the Sweden international’s goals have accounted for 10-12 of Celtic’s points this season.

If you took them away, the Bhoys would be on 37 points instead of 48, which would put them fifth in the Scottish Premiership table.

Turns out he is a lot more valuable than some might have thought.
