Pundits Chris Sutton and Billy Dodds had good things to say about Celtic star Mikey Johnston after his stunning performance off the bench against Ross County this afternoon.
With the attacker still not quite a full match fitness following his scoring return to action against Rennes, he had to settle for a place on the bench in Dingwall.
However, he was given more minutes in the second half, replacing goalscorer Tom Rogic.
It didn’t take him long to make an impact. Just moments after entering the match he took the ball on the left side of the pitch and terrorised the County defence, surging past them and firing a classy finish in to the far corner.
Sutton immediately took to Twitter to share his thoughts…
Mikey Johnston is a real talent 👏👏

BBC Scotland’s Billy Dodds wasn’t far behind, telling the broadcaster (01/12 live match, 13:31): “He’s special is Michael Johnston. Once he gets himself into the position he just cuts inside, bears down on goal, and my word he’s got the composure. It’s a brilliant finish from a guy who is just on the pitch.”
The sky appears to be the limit when it comes to his potential upon returning to the team. Two goals in two appearances coming off the back of a long injury is wonderful stuff.
It’s certainly sent a warning to others in the squad like Mohamed Elyounoussi that he’s set to battle hard for a regular starting spot in Neil Lennon’s team.
I can’t wait to see more of him over the coming weeks.
