Brendan Rodgers has confirmed how Kieran Tierney is feeling after his second competitive debut was cut short.

Tierney impressed Celtic fans before he was forced to leave the pitch in the 65th minute after pulling up with an injury.

The left-back seemed to have a grimacing look on his face when leaving the pitch but would’ve been delighted to see Luke McCowan score a late winner against St Mirren.

Brendan Rodgers says Kieran Tierney is ‘okay’

When Tierney’s afternoon ended early, supporters would’ve been forgiven for thinking the worst.

Losing a key player on the first day of the season would’ve been incredibly unlucky, but the Celtic manager revealed that he will be fine.

He told BBC Scotland: “Kieran hasn’t had much football in the last few years and we have to manage him in the games and I thought he was excellent.

“He was very good and it was great to see him back at Celtic Park.”

Rodgers added that Tierney is ‘okay’ and isn’t expected to be ruled out of action.

Kieran Tierney is just what Celtic needed

Despite the evident rustiness and need to build up his match fitness, Tierney still starred at Parkhead.

Greg Taylor was a reliable servant during his time in Glasgow but the Lennoxtown graduate is a cut above.

He showed his class multiple times with some nice balls into the box, as well as beating his opponent with ease.

It was a sign of things to come and we’re in for a very fun season of KT.
