In a hard-fought win, Celtic defeated Aberdeen 3-1 at Pittodrie to ensure all three points headed back to Glasgow this afternoon.

Goals from Liel Abada, Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley helped seal the win after Aberdeen put up a dogged performance which saw Brendan Rodgers’ men given their first test on the road this season.

However, the win didn’t come easy. Cameron Carter-Vickers was replaced at half-time by Stephen Welsh as the US defender appeared to suffer an injury against The Dons.

Providing an update on the centre-back post-match Rodgers said [Sky Sports], “Hopefully he is ok. He felt his hamstring a little bit. So we have to assess that because we didn’t want to put any more risk on it.”

Rodgers also went on to explain the injury status of Reo Hatate who was taken off midway through the second half after he was brought on as a second half substitute.

Rodgers continued, “Reo coming in was a tactical one. I felt there was a lot of direct balls in the first half in the midfield and we weren’t getting around the second ball.

“So he’s quite tenacious in there. So bringing him into the game but then he felt a little issue in his calf so we’ll see how that goes in the next couple of days.”

Sky pictures showed Carter-Vickers on the pitch at the full time whistle looking uneasy and the supporters will be concerned as Celtic have important fixtures coming up in the next

And whilst the performance from Celtic was patchy at times, the win means that the Parkhead men stay top of the league after matchday two.

Hopefully both players will come through these scares relatively unscathed as Celtic head into an already important part of the season.
