Brendan Rodgers was a happy man after watching his team beat Ross County 3-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from David Turnbull, Luis Palma and James Forrest powered the Bhoys to a win which sends them eight points clear of Rangers at the top of the table.
It was heartening to see fringe and squad players step up to perform in the Highlands after Rodgers made six changes to his team for the lunchtime kick-off. Understandably he was delighted, but he did note some odd refereeing on the day.
Brendan Rodgers lauds Celtic goals vs Ross County
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Bhoys boss said: “It was a good performance. It’s always a different challenge when they go down to ten men early in the game. Give credit to Ross County, they worked ever so hard.
“I thought we created a lot of chances. We had some goals disallowed, I’ll need to see them again, especially the offside. The one early on, you had two guys jumping for the ball, the ball lands and we finish and it’s given as no goal. I didn’t see that as a good decision.
“The guys kept going, kept persevering. We scored three outstanding goals. The guys have that quality. David Turnbull, again a wonderful strike, it’s his second goal from outside the box this week. Luis Palma, a brilliant goal and a great dink for the third goal. And their goalkeeper made a number of fantastic saves.
“It’s a game we needed energy in the team. The guys starting gave us new energy and the guys coming off the bench gave us energy. It was a good win for us.”

Celtic now have the daunting task of travelling away to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night in an effort to pick up points in the UEFA Champions League.
That will be a completely different challenge compared to today but it’s clear that the Bhoys are in a confident mood right now.
With proper rest today for players such as Matt O’Riley, the squad is in good shape and hopefully they can do the support proud on the continent.
