Brendan Rodgers was fairly content with his side’s display despite drawing 0-0 with Hibs at Celtic Park.

The Hoops played out a goalless stalemate in wet conditions as they failed to make their good attacking play count towards three points.

Marcelo Saracchi and Sebastian Tounekti impressed on the day, but their performances were not enough to get fans off their backsides.

Rodgers was visibly frustrated on the touchline, but he told BBC Sportsound reporter Martin Dowden that he was pretty happy with the day’s work.

Rodgers says summer transfer window is ‘irrelevant’ now

However, when Dowden asked if the poor recruitment of the summer transfer window was a consequence of the 0-0 draw, Rodgers bit back.

Rodgers replied: “Well I can’t effect it now so it’s irrelevant. It’s one where my focus is on the group of players that are here who are full of endeavour and full of hard work.

“Whatever we did or didn’t get (in the summer), it really is irrelevant because I can’t worry about that now. The players that are here, we have to make the best of them.

“And like I said, I thought performance-wise we were really good today – we just couldn’t score.”

Celtic protests against board continued vs Hibs

Celtic fans know full well that it was a terrible summer for recruitment at the club, but it certainly isn’t irrelevant to them now.

They are using it as a means to oust the current board, who were responsible for conducting the transfer negotiations in the summer.

The Hoops showed their anger towards the board again against Hibs with a banner emerging from the North Curve section of Celtic Park reading: “Your Silence Is Deafening”.

That message was unveiled amid the silent protest during the game, which saw the Green Brigade and Bhoys Celtic stand in complete silence starting on the 12th minute.

Singing then continued vociferously after the protest, but it couldn’t help deliver three points on the pitch for the Hoops.
