Celtic absolutely blew away St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

For the second time in a row at Hampden, Celtic battered SPFL opposition as they made their way to another domestic cup final in the 5-0 win over St Johnstone in the Scottish Cup.

Goals from Callum McGregor, Daize Maeda (2), Adam Idah and Jota ensured Brendan Rodgers remains on course to win his third treble over two spells as the Celtic manager.

Reacting to the win, the Hoops boss was blown away by his teams efforts as he gave his honest thoughts on Celticโ€™s performace over Simo Valakariโ€™s side.

Brendan Rodgers admits Celtic lost their โ€˜edgeโ€™ before St Johnstone win

After watching the five-goal mauking of St Johnstone, Rodgers was over the moon with his players as he reflected on a superb Celtic performance in the sun at Hampden.

Rodgers told Premier Sports, โ€œI think thatโ€™s the the beauty of this squad, like last year was tight, getting into February/March, but then we accelerated through that period and finished really well and played well.

โ€œSometimes the comfort, and this is the thing I talked about. Itโ€™s not nice. You want it, but you donโ€™t really, as a manager, because youโ€™re missing the edge that took, the edge off a couple of performances, like when we played St Johnstone a few weeks ago and last week against Kilmarnock we were very, very good.

โ€œAnd obviously today, and it was hot on the pitch, I just had to walk around there. You wouldnโ€™t want to be playing on it. It was boiling. But the players were brilliant. And like I said, the concentration was really good.โ€

Rodgers now has a date with Aberdeen on the cards after Jimmy Thelinโ€™s men booked their place in the final yesterday and the Celtic boss will remember what happened the last time he came up against the Pittodrie club in a Scottish Cup final.

The last time Celtic faced Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final

Rodgers faced Aberdeen in the 2017 Scottish Cup final where a 2-1 capped off the most iconic season in the Parkhead clubโ€™s most recent history.

With just minutes to go and both teams all square at 1-1, the Celtic Invincibles were born when Tom Rogic stepped up to do this:

In a tight game, Celtic created history and Rodgers will not mind one bit if this seasonโ€™s final plays out the exact same way.
