Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has admitted that emotions are running high at Celtic Park this week. The club are still in mourning following the recent deaths of Lisbon Lions legends Billy McNeill and Stevie Chalmers.
The Hoops also face the prospect of possibly clinching the league title against Aberdeen on Saturday. McGregor has disclosed that winning the title would be the ultimate tribute to the club legends.
“It has been a really emotional week and the club is highly charged with that emotion” he said, as reported by the Daily Record.

“Really emotional week”
“As players, to deliver that title on the pitch is the best tribute we can make.”
It will be interesting to see how the recent events at Celtic affect performances on the pitch.

Flat performance
The team seemed flat in the recent 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.
A repeat of that performance against Aberdeen could cast doubt on the Hoops getting the result that will clinch the league title.

Of course, a point would be enough to win the title, so perhaps the performance doesn’t have to be one of the best of the season.
However, as McGregor says, winning the title on the pitch would be the perfect tribute to the two Celtic heroes.
Neil Lennon will have to ensure that the players direct their emotions in defeating the Dons. If he can do that it should be a day of celebration for Celtic.
