Brendan Rodgers has shared how Celtic striker, Adam Idah is feeling after being subjected to a shocking tackle in the Motherwell win this afternoon.

Coming on as a second-half substitute, the Republic of Ireland international got himself on the scoresheet as Idah rounded off Celtic’s win at Fir Park in emphatic style.

However, Motherwell’s Liam Gordon was ordered off after VAR intervened in his challenge on Idah after the defender lunged in high above the Celtic striker’s ankle late on in the match.

Speaking about the tackle, Brendan Rodgers has shared how Idah is feeling after the challenge and believes that the 23-year-old will feel the after-effects as the night goes on.

Rodgers’ honest assessment of Motherwell defender’s tackle on Celtic striker Adam Idah

Rodgers told Sky Sports, “Yeah, I think it felt a bit numb for him at first. It’s not a great challenge, but I don’t think the players tried to hurt him.

“The problem is when you leave the ground, and it rocked his ankle, so he was struggling for a little bit after that.

“But then I think once he got moving, it was okay. So we just have to wait and see when he takes the boot off, but I’m sure there’ll be a wee bit of swelling there.”

Adam Idah’s numbers after big summer move to Celtic

The big Irishman hasn’t had the best of times in terms of starts since Idah made his big £8.5m from Norwich City to Celtic.

However, despite most of his minutes coming from the Celtic bench, Idah has still managed to score five goals in 12 appearances in the green and white Hoops.

Averaging a goal every 89 minutes, the Republic of Ireland striker has scored against Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League as well as finding the back of the net in the Bhoys’ win at Motherwell and hitting a brace against Falkirk in the League Cup and in Celtic’s 6-0 demolition of St Johnstone.

Idah is slowly but surely paying back his huge fee and there is no doubt he will have a big part to play in Celtic’s successes this season.
