Celtic could continue an excellent SPFL record if they beat Hearts

Life under Wilfried Nancy begins as Celtic take on Hearts in a top of the table clash.

A win will ensure the Hoops leapfrog their opponents and give their new manager the perfect start.

It is hard to know what Nancy’s first starting XI will look like, but Celtic seem to be the overwhelming favourites after their turnaround in form.

Meanwhile, Hearts have gone four games without a win and Derek McInnes is beginning to feel the pressure of the title race.

While there may be some pre-match nerves, one record has provided a good omen for Celtic.

What do you think the score will be against Hearts?

Celtic’s home record against sides top of the league

Whoever wins at Celtic Park will surely feel they can hold down top spot until the end of the season.

Thankfully, history would suggest that it will be the Bhoys who will win the game.

According to the BBC Sport stat pack, Celtic have only lost one of their last nine home games against sides top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Six of those have been wins, two have been draws and one of those victories included a 5-0 demolition job of the Jambos in November 2018.

Hearts are beginning to choke in the title race

It may seem premature to say this, but things haven’t looked rosy for the Edinburgh club of late.

Without a win in four, they’ve allowed the Bhoys to really ramp up the pressure.

Their away form has taken a hit too, particularly in the goalscoring department.

Hearts scored at least two goals in their first five away games but have since failed to find the back of their net in the last two on the road.

The last time they went three successive away games without a goal was in December 2019.
