Celtic fans will be hoping for another win at Tannadice against Dundee United to solidify their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers has named the starting XI and matchday squad as Celtic face Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United for the lunchtime kick-off in Tayside:

Celtic Starting XI: Schmeichel, Ralston, Taylor, Welsh, Scales, McGregor, Hatate, McCowan, Yang, Kyogo, Maeda.

Substitutions: Sinisalo, Palma, Idah, Valle, Nawrocki, Engels, Bernardo, Bonnar, Donovan

After Celtic beat Rangers in the League Cup final, league duty resumes today with eight points separating the Parkhead club from their rivals.

Rangers narrowly beat Dundee 1-0 at Ibrox yesterday to leapfrog Aberdeen into second place as they try and close the gap at the top of the table before the big New Year Glasgow Derby.

Reacting to the team lineup Rodgers believes will get the three points, Celtic fans responded to the Hoops boss’ much-changed lineup.

Celtic fans & Chris Sutton react as Brendan Rodgers announces team vs Dundee United

First up to respond was Chris Sutton as he immediately retweeted Celtic’s lineup with this message:

And that fact wasn’t lost on much of the Celtic support.

One fan said simply, “Lol. Put the real one up now!” and another said, “That is an awful lineup Hoops.”

Keeping in with the Christmas spirit, one Celtic fan put:

One Celtic fan replied, “That back 4, you’ve ruined Christmas.” and another carried on the theme, “Too many changes for me in defence.”

Another Hoops supporter is predicting a tough afternoon now at Tannadice, “I’d happily eat my words but I think it’s gonna be a hard-fought one today.”

And the fear of injuries is on this Celtic supporter’s mind.

With so many changes to the starting XI it seems that patience might be the key for the fans to a Celtic win today.

Chris Sutton points out Dundee United dangerman Celtic ‘will have to be watchful’ of

Speaking about today’s match, former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton points out a Dundee United player Brendan Rodgers must watch out for.

Sutton told Sky Sports Scotland, “In Sam Dalby, they’ve got a strike who’s banging form right at this moment in time.

“Celtic will have to be watchful at the back, depending on who plays at centre half, but he’s been a massive positive.

“I think Jim Goodwin has used that loan market really, really well, and Dolby has come in, and he’s more than just a goal scorer.

“He’s good with his link-up play back to goal, but he’s got an eye for a goal and that’s important for Dundee United.”

Celtic should still have enough in their locker to secure a win at Tannadice and open up that 11-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

67 Hail Hail score prediction: Dundee United 0 v 4 Celtic.
