Kieran Tierney finally scored his first goal in Celtic colours since returning to Parkhead this summer.
The full-back doubled the Hoops lead with a low-driven effort from the edge of the box as Celtic beat Kilmarnock 4-0.
Tierney hasn’t had the fairytale return to his boyhood club that he’d have hoped for, with a mix of poor form and injury troubles perhaps hindering him from being back to his very best.
But, after coming on to replace Marcelo Saracchi, he delivered, much to the delight of the Bhoys faithful.
Celtic fans react to Kieran Tierney performance
Reacting to the performance of the homegrown hero, the Celtic fans were delighted with how he played,
@CelticLass07 wrote: “Solid win that. Simpson-Ousey had a decent hour, buzzin for Tierney getting a goal too. Only downside of the day was the injury to Sarrachi. Can’t afford anymore of them.”
@RSouthside67 added: “K.T looking more like himself last few games.”
@JamieODonnelll said: “I love you Kieran Tierney.”
Kieran Tierney can finally kick on at Celtic
That goal will do Tierney the world of good as the Bhoys head into a busy run of fixtures after the international break.
The injury to Saracchi means that the 27-year-old is the only recognised left-back at the club and he will be expected to deputise once he returns from international duty for Scotland.
As well as the Premier Sports Cup final, a top of the table clash against Hearts awaits, by which point they could have the chance to take over.
Everything is poised for Tierney to really lay down his mark and be the number one choice for the left-back slot.
