Celtic fans demand Ismaila Soro starts derby; Lennon must make the right call

If there’s one thing that Celtic fans are united on right now, it’s the positivity surrounding midfielder Ismaila Soro.

The Ivorian 22-year-old has been a breath of fresh air in the heart of the Celtic team of late.

Neil Lennon has recently taken the decision to prefer the January signing ahead of stalwart Scott Brown.

That call has also allowed the manager to deploy a diamond midfield in support of two strikers.

Soro’s mobility and energy is a far better fit at the base of that diamond compared to the Celtic legend.

However, Lennon also played Brown in the Scottish Cup Final against Hearts, suggesting that the captain is still his go-to man in the biggest games.

A huge Celtic decision

Not playing Brown against Rangers next week at Ibrox would be a major call.

Could we really go into a title-defining match like that without our leader?

The answer to that, for many, is yes.

Brown’s performances this term haven’t exactly provided comfort.

There are some who don’t think he has the legs, or the quality, to compete at the level a derby demands these days.

That may be harsh, but there’s definitely a clamouring for Lennon to play Soro against the league leaders, despite his lack of experience.

Fans have seen enough over the last few matches to demand that the manager plays the battling Ivorian.

These supporters have taken to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts…

In other news, Neil Lennon has singled Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard out for praise after yesterday’s win over Hamilton.
