Celtic fans fume at Nir Bitton as Bhoys throw league away

Celtic have lost the pivotal derby away to Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this afternoon.

Neil Lennon’s team dominated large portions of the match before a defining moment in the second half.

Nir Bitton got caught on the wrong side of Alfredo Morelos and was shown a red card by referee Bobby Madden.

Steven Gerrard’s team would subsequently pour on the pressure and eventually score from a corner.

It’s a desperately disappointing afternoon.

Bitton will be the villain of the piece but his error is just the latest in a long line of them during this campaign.

Players have let us down all season, as has the manager on occasion.

In fairness, I thought Lennon got his team selection and tactics spot on today. We were well placed to pick up a brilliant victory before the sending off.

Today’s performance was a huge improvement over the last derby.

However, in truth, the league is now more than likely over. Rangers are a massive 19 points ahead and even if we won all of our games in hand, we’d still be 10 behind.

Given their form in the top-flight, it feels unlikely they’ll drop that many points in the second half of the season. They only have 16 games remaining.

There’ll be lots of fall out ahead, but for now it’s Bitton who is receiving much of the flak.

Perhaps that’s what we get for a transitioning a midfielder into a centre-half well into his career.

These supporters have taken to social media today to share their thoughts on the red card incident…

In other news, Celtic manager Neil Lennon has provided an injury update on Christopher Jullien.
