Can’t believe that was 21 years ago! Feels just like yesterday. After nearly 10 years of pain that was pure relief and joy – and took my old man onto the pitch at the end – was amazing just to stand on that pitch and look up at the stands…

The game itself was an extremely tense one. The Hoops needed to win the game, whilst dropping any points would give Rangers a chance to overtake Celtic at the top of the league.

Off to perfect start
Celtic got off to a perfect start through a Henrik Larsson goal. However, the Hoops huffed and puffed and failed to get the second goal until Harald Brattbakk’s strike brought huge relief to Celtic Park.

The win brought incredible scenes to Celtic Park. Following the title presentations the fans invaded the pitch. The celebrations hadn’t been seen at Celtic Park for years. Therefore, it was understandable to see fans on the pitch.
The victory over St Johnstone must go down as one of the most important wins in Celtic’s history. It is no wonder fans look back on that day with joy.
