Last night’s Celtic win over AIK was a much-needed tonic for the Hoops support.
After the disaster against Cluj and the muddy performance against Dunfermline, there was a bit of trepidation heading into the encounter against the Swedes.
Thankfully Neil Lennon had his men well motivated for the 90 minutes. The team produced a solid enough performance that gives us a nice cushion heading into next week’s second leg in Stockholm.
Goalscorers James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard stole the headlines with their goals.
However, for many, there was another top performer – 20-year-old winger Mikey Johnston.
The homegrown prospect produced a resilient and determined display on the left flank. In the face of a significant physical challenge he persevered and threatened throughout the match.

Drawing fouls, confusing his opponents and linking well with the rest of the front four, it was a promising performance.
Johnston has previously shown he might not quite be up for that physical battle but his tenacity in the match is a sign he is capable of taking his game to new heights in the coming weeks and months.
We know he has the skill – can he bring in other elements to his performances on a consistent basis?
These fans were certainly impressed with his Thursday night performance, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts during and after the match…
