Daizen Maeda looked back to his best after helping Celtic reach the final of the Premier Sports Cup.

Celtic beat Rangers 3-1 across 120 minutes of football as goals from Johnny Kenny, Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand ensured it would be a memorable day for those in green and white.

Maeda was restored to the starting XI after a brief spell out through injury, but looked like a different player compared to how he has performed for most of the season.

Since the bombshell news that Maeda wanted to leave Celtic in the summer, questions have been asked about his mindset, but he proved he still cares with his latest social media post.

Celtic fans loved Daizen Maeda’s social media post

Like all of his teammates, the Hoops forward thanked the supporters for the part they played in the win against Rangers, while also reminding everyone that ‘Glasgow is Green’.

That was understandably lapped up by the Celtic fans, who asked the Japan international to commit his future to the Bhoys.

@OneClub1888 agreed, replying: “Sign a new deal big man.”

@hgbdmi said: “Lifetime contract.”

@Rich322020 commented: “You’re going nowhere.”

Daizen Maeda can be the difference maker for Celtic

It was refreshing to see last season’s top scorer back to his very best.

Nobody will know what it was like behind the scenes between Maeda and Brendan Rodgers, but it is clear that Martin O’Neill has already managed to win him over.

When he is firing, he is practically unstoppable and is capable of winning games on his own for the Bhoys.

The likelihood is that the forward will be moving on in the summer, but until then, if we can see more of this version of the 27-year-old, he will depart with everyone’s blessing.
