Celtic fans are hoping to see Karamoko Dembele featured in Neil Lennon’s first-team more often after his impressive performance against Hibernian in a Monday afternoon friendly.

Lennon’s second string got some final match practice before the Scottish Premiership begins in a behind-closed-doors game at Celtic Park, winning 3-1 against the Edinburgh outfit.

It was Dembele who impressed most of all in the first half, looking eager and creative on the ball before scoring prior to half-time and equalising an early away opener.

Olivier Ntcham regained possession 25 yards from goal and slotted a pass through to the teenager, who coolly finished low into the bottom corner.

Encouragingly, it was striker Patryk Klimala who scored our other two goals.

Dembele has scored plenty for our youth sides over the years but this was his first in senior action.

He’ll now be hoping to transfer that kind of impact to competitive matches over the next few weeks and months.

The 17-year-old has only ever featured off the bench in that setting but is starting to look ready for more minutes in Lennon’s team.

With Celtic lacking depth in the wing areas and Mikey Johnston again finding himself injured, the England youth international has a great opportunity to push on and support James Forrest.

After so much hype, this could truly be his breakout season at Celtic Park.

These fans are certainly excited by his talent, taking to Twitter this afternoon to share their thoughts on the player…

In other news, Davie Provan looks to have badly mistimed his recent Leigh Griffiths criticism.
