Celtic fans loved the goal contribution of Shane Duffy during tonight’s victory over St Mirren.
Neil Lennon’s Bhoys picked up another three points on the road in the Scottish Premiership tonight but had to work hard for their win.
The champions fell behind early in the match and had to dig deep to get back into the match after a sloppy and dangerous opening 20 minutes.
It was Duffy who put us on the road to victory, coolly heading home Ryan Christie’s wonderful free-kick before marching up the pitch without much of a celebration – a sign he was content to roll his sleeves up and get on with the task.
Celtic would eventually find a route ahead through James Forrest and held on to the 2-1 lead through the second half.
The performance wasn’t a classic by any means but we can be grateful of the win and move on to the challenge of Livingston at Celtic Park this weekend.
This was an important fixture, being one of those we have in hand over fellow title chases Rangers. We simply had to win by any means possible and thankfully didn’t slip up.
Lennon’s Bhoys still have questions to answer in terms of performance but it’s big moments like Duffy’s goal that will keep us on the right track in the top-flight while that is figured out.
He looks to be an inspired signing and I’m delighted we have him.
These fans took to Twitter tonight to share their thoughts on his impact…

If it looks like he’s enjoying himself now, wait til Shane Duffy gets to play at a full Parkhead.

Bringing big Shane Duffy to a Celtic has certainly given us a new dimension as a threat in the opposition box when we had cried out for a no nonsense Centre Back. Happy days so far! 👏🏻
