Celtic injury curse strikes again as Josip Juranovic hobbles off vs Dundee United
Celtic have had horrendous luck with injuries so far this season and it got worse today in the first half against Dundee United when Josip Juranovic hobbled off before the half-hour mark.
The Croatian international was starting out of his natural position, on the left flank, and looked comfortable in the early stages. He even managed to get a dangerous shot on target that caused panic in the Dundee United defence.
However, he plays no further part this afternoon and the Bhoys will be left sweating on his fitness ahead of upcoming matches against Bayer Leverkusen and Aberdeen.
Juranovic looked in a bit of pain on the turf after the substitution was confirmed, but eventually managed to walk off under his own power. So there will be hope it’s not a particularly serious problem.
However, the change did force Ange Postecoglou’s hand in using Adam Montgomery earlier than he’d like.
The Celtic manager had explained on BBC Radio Scotland prior to kick-off that he had Montgomery on the bench as an attacking option to use later in the game further up the pitch. That wasn’t to be.

Celtic could have used that attacking flexibility in the second half with a lack of other options on the bench.
The Bhoys are currently toiling at 1-1 against the Tayside club at the time of publishing, but we’ve had further chances so fingers crossed the team can find the answer after the interval.
We’ll have an update on Juranovic as soon as we know more.
