Wilfried Nancy finally earned his first win as Celtic manager with a vital three points against Aberdeen.

The Hoops controlled the first half and eventually broke the deadlock when the ball fell to Benjamin Nygren, who was able to slot home after some neat build-up play.

Aberdeen were then reduced to 10 men on the verge of half time after Dylan Lobban was adjudged to have pulled him back as the last man.

Despite the extra-man advantage, it was the visitors who were next on the scoresheet against the run of play as Kenan Bilalovic’s shot was weakly palmed in by Kasper Schmeichel.

Dimitar Mitov was excellent in goal for the Dons as he made three or four quality saves, but they couldn’t hold on as Kieran Tierney headed home Colby Donovan’s wicked delivery with minutes of the game remaining.

Three points were then wrapped up as Callum McGregor and James Forrest combined beautifully as Forrest scored for the 16th season in a row, handing Nancy a huge three points.

With that, here is how 67 Hail Hail rated the performance of each player.

Celtic player ratings vs Aberdeen

Kasper Schmeichel – 4

Always seems to blame others but not himself when it comes to conceding goals. Very weak and should be doing better. Time to be dropped?

Anthony Ralston – 5

Not the best performance, but not the worst. Should be dropped for Donovan.

Auston Trusty – 5

Had been brilliant up to the point where he allowed Aberdeen to split him and his defenders and enable Bilalovic through on goal.

Kieran Tierney – 6

Popped up when Celtic needed him most right at the end at the most important time. Wasted at centre-back though as he is much better when being able to go forward.

Hyunjun Yang – 5

Played some nice one-twos with Ralston but didn’t offer much in terms of end product.

Callum McGregor (C) – 5

Was okay in spells. Thought he should’ve had a penalty in the first half but there wasn’t enough in it. He needs more help from his midfield partners.

Arne Engels – 5

Was bright in the first half but faded away.

Benjamin Nygren – 6

Has a habit of being in the right place at the right time and took his goal really well. Doesn’t always have a huge impact on the game, but goals are what matter.

Luke McCowan – 6

Much more like it from the midfielder, who was solid all afternoon.

Daizen Maeda – 6

Made some decent runs and had a few good chances at goal. Should’ve scored one, maybe two in the game.

Johnny Kenny – 5

Really struggles to hold up the ball and looks somewhat isolated up front on his own. Needs to work on his first touch and get his scoring boots on after missing more easy chances.

Substitutes

Liam Scales – 6

Solid at the back when he came on and helped get the three points.

Shin Yamada – 5

Didn’t make much of an impact.

James Forrest – 6

How can you not love this man? Another season and another goal for the big man.

Colby Donovan – 6

Made a huge impact off the bench by delivering the ball for Tierney’s goal. He needs to start!
