Celtic player ratings vs Braga as 4/10 has a stinker while 8/10 the only positive on dire night

Add as preferred source on Google

Celtic put in their worst performance of the campaign so far as they lost 2-0 to Braga at Parkhead in the Europa League.

Sebastian Tounekti was the only highlight of a shocking night that saw Braga ease to their second win in the league phase.

Kasper Schmeichel had a howler for Braga’s first goal while the second for the Portuguese side was a mess defensively.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal was incredibly disallowed by VAR early in the second-half which may have changed the game had it stood, but in the end it was a dire night.

Here are 67 Hail Hail’s player ratings below.

Kasper Schmeichel – 4

Totally at fault for the first Braga goal as he failed to keep out Ricardo Horta’s dipping strike from distance. Goes with his right hand to save the effort when it should’ve been his left.

Kieran Tierney – 6

Combined well in attacking areas with Tounekti. Looks a lot fitter now which will only help Celtic going forward this season.

Liam Scales – 5

His worst display of an otherwise strong season so far for the Irishman.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 6

It could have been a much more painful defeat if the American wasn’t playing.

Colby Donovan – 5

Sacrificed at half-time for Marcelo Saracchi as Rodgers changed to a three at the back after a poor first 45 minutes from the Hoops.

Callum McGregor (C) – 5

Usually controls the midfield and dictates play, but Braga outthought and outfought the Bhoys in the middle of the park.

Paulo Bernardo – 5

Looked like a player who isn’t really match fit. Big decision from Rodgers to bring him in from cold storage for an important Europa League game. Subbed off during the second-half.

Benjamin Nygren – 5

Really shoddy night for the £2m summer signing. Hooked after 66 minutes.

Sebastian Tounekti – 8

Celtic’s most threatening player on the night

Daizen Maeda – 5

Put in his usual 200% but his spark is missing. Marshalled well by the Braga left-back.

Kelechi Iheanacho – 5

Not as sharp in his hold-up play as he was against Hibs. His equaliser was incredibly chalked off for a factual handball VAR decision.

Marcelo Saracchi (sub) – 6

The best sub on the night. Always positive in his play and has a great engine on him.

Arne Engels (sub) – 4

Again did not impact the game enough.

Reo Hatate (sub) – 5

Looked the busiest of the midfielders in the second-half but without delivering a real spark that was needed.

James Forrest (sub) – 3

Took his full-back on a few times but nothing meaningful from the veteran.

Dane Murray (sub) – 2

His clearance ricocheted off a Braga player for the Portuguese team’s second goal.
