Celtic warmed up for their Champions League play-off second leg against Bayern Munich with an easy win over Dundee United.
The Bhoys cruised to three points against the Tannadice side who – as an attacking threat – mustered up just two measly shots on target.
As for Celtic, Jota and Adam Idah were the standout stars of the afternoon with both getting on the scoresheet with excellent goals.
It was captain Callum McGregor who broke the deadlock after 22 minutes with a brilliant dribbling run and finish, before Jota added Celtic’s second with an excellent right-footed shot.
But the best goal of the afternoon came from Idah. After a wobbly touch, he ran onto the ball and bent an unstoppable curling shot into the top corner past the helpless Jack Walton.

Celtic player ratings vs Dundee United

Kasper Schmeichel – 6
Could have got the deckchair out in the first-half as he made just one save, which probably doesn’t even go down as a save on the stats but it was a shot on target from United’s Allan Campbell.
Anthony Ralston – 6
It’s well documented that Ralston just isn’t at the same level of quality as Alistair Johnston and that was evident again today. Tends to turn back the way instead of having the belief to make a cutting forward pass. Did fire balls into the box for United to defend, however.
Cameron Carter-Vickers – 6
Played like his assured self. Mopped things up when he had to and kept Premiership top scorer Sam Dalby very quiet throughout the contest.
Auston Trusty – 6
Prone to a shaky moment or two on the ball but was hardly tested defensively with Celtic dominating the ball for most of the game. Got an assist for Jota’s goal.
Jeffrey Schlupp – 7
Hit the post with a fierce effort just before playing a part in Jota’s goal as he made a terrific underlapping run to make the space for the Portuguese winger.
Callum McGregor (C) – 8
After a frustrating start for Celtic, captain McGregor broke the deadlock with a fantastic mazy run into the box before striking into the opposite bottom corner. His fantastic goalscoring season continues.
Luke McCowan – 6
The best quality of McCowan’s in this Celtic team is his ability to find space in more advanced areas of the pitch. It may not have been his most convincing display but he gives defenders something to think about.
Reo Hatate – 6
Quieter afternoon for the Japanese midfielder. Looked a bit livelier in the second-half before being the first substitute for Celtic after 61 minutes.
Yang Hyun-jun – 7
One of Celtic’s better players in the first-half. Always energetic and looks really determined to prove to his manager that he’s worthy of more game time. Got his fourth assist in three games to set up McGregor’s strike.
Jota – 8
He saw so much of the ball out on the left wing and grew more and more effective as the game went on. Scored with a trademark Jota strike when cutting in on his right foot and bending one into the far corner of the net. Such a quality player.
Adam Idah – 8
Idah started as Celtic’s central striker and worked his socks off all afternoon. He wasn’t presented with too many opportunities but his goal for Celtic’s third was an unbelievable.
Arne Engels (sub) – 4
Came on at a good time with Celtic 2-0 up and kept things ticking over in midfield.
Daizen Maeda (sub) – 5
Came on and made an instant impact. Looked threatening on the left flank and saw a header go just wide from a corner.
Nicolas Kuhn (sub) – 3
Didn’t really affect the game in the closing stages.
Greg Taylor (sub) – 4
Filled in well for Schlupp and combined with Maeda on the left-hand side.
Johnny Kenny (sub) – 2
Given a late run out by Brendan Rodgers.
