Celtic player ratings vs Dundee United as Wilfried Nancy’ future looks even bleaker with fourth defeat

Wilfried Nancy’s future is in serious doubt after falling to a fourth defeat in a row as Celtic manager against Dundee United.

Celtic looked the better side in the opening minutes of the game and were rewarded after missing some chances as Daizen Maeda expertly finished past goalkeeper Dave Richards with a arrowed finish into the bottom corner.

Johnny Kenny had plenty of chances to double the Hoops’ advantage before the break, and even missed a glorious chance from close range after a brilliant ball in from Maeda.

The Hoops looked like a different side after the break, however, and were made to pay for failing to clear their lines as Dundee United ended more than an eight-hour wait to score against Celtic by equalising from a corner.

Things then went from bad to worse as Dundee United then completed the turnaround within the space of three minutes with a curling effort just inside the box

Tensions threatend to boil over as large sections of the away end could be heard singing Martin O’Neill’s name loud and proud before turning on Nancy with shouts for him to go.

As the Frenchman waits to see if he will still be in a job, 67 Hail Hail rates the performance of each player.

Celtic player ratings vs Dundee United

Kasper Schmeichel – 4

It looks like time could be up for Schmeichel as a Celtic player. Two goals conceded again and Viljami Sinisalo must be wondering what on earth he needs to do to get a game.

Anthony Ralston – 4

Simply not good enough to be a Celtic player.

Auston Trusty – 4

Has a habit of letting the ball bounce when competing for headers. Incredibly risky and allowed the Dundee United players to make it a physical battle.

Kieran Tierney – 4

Doesn’t look comfortable in the left centre-back role at all. Would be much more effective in the wing-back role.

Hyunjun Yang – 4

Blows hot and cold far too often when playing. He was very cold today and offered nothing.

Luke McCowan – 4

Another one who made very little impact.

Callum McGregor (C) – 4

Looked leggy in midfield and sluggish when it came to picking out passes.

Paulo Bernardo – 5

A solid performance on his return to the starting XI. Never going to grab headlines, but kept things ticking alongside McGregor. Put in the work defensively and perhaps unfortunate not to stay on longer.

Reo Hatate – 4

Didn’t do anything of note.

Daizen Maeda – 5

One of the few that looked like he was capable of doing anything. Lovely finish for the opening goal but was given very little service, or chance to make an impact after before missing an open goal to level the game.

Johnny Kenny – 4

Got into the right positions but his finishing was very poor. Could’ve had two in the first half alone and it emphasises the need for a striker to come in next month.

Substitutes

Shin Yamada – 4

Very raw player which is evident by his reckless shooting. Struggles to hold up the ball and cope with the physicality.

James Forrest –

Arne Engels – 4

£11m and he can’t even beat the first man from a corner. Not good enough.

Liam Scales – 4

Not sure what bringing on a centre-back does when you’re losing 2-1.

Benjamin Nygren –
