Celtic player ratings vs Kilmarnock, 9/10 duo dominate midfield but 6/10 underwhelms

Celtic responded to last weekend’s St Johnstone defeat in emphatic fashion as they trounced Kilmarnock at Parkhead.

And it means the Bhoys will wrap up their fourth consecutive Premiership title tomorrow if Rangers drop points to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Brendan Rodgers was fuming with his players in Perth, but he got the reaction he desired and then some at a sun-soaked Celtic Park.

A rampant Celtic raced into a 4-0 lead after just 25 minutes of action as Reo Hatate notched a brace, with Daizen Maeda and Cameron Carter-Vickers also getting on the scoresheet.

Carter-Vickers’ effort is easily a goal of the season contender after the American rifled in a belter from almost 30 yards out – who knew he had that in his locker?

Kilmarnock responded with a fluke Danny Armstrong goal before Celtic played out a comfortable second-half that appeared to glean no further goals – that was until Anthony Ralston struck in stoppage time to end the afternoon on a high.

Below, 67 Hail Hail provide the Celtic player ratings vs Kilmarnock.

Viljami Sinisalo – 6

Will be disappointed with the Danny Armstrong goal that caught the Finnish goalkeeper out. Otherwise had very little to do between the sticks.

Alistair Johnston – 8

Put the cross in for Maeda to tap in at the back post for Celtic’s second goal. Tremendous up and down the right side for the Bhoys.

Cameron Carter-Vickers – 8

Scored one of the best goals you’ll see all season with a thunderbolt of a strike from distance. Rarely troubled defensively.

Liam Scales – 6

Saw plenty of the ball but made a couple of sloppy passes. Did grab an assist though.

Greg Taylor – 9

Utterly excelled in the inverted full-back role, was popping up everywhere in midfield and found pockets of space to develop Celtic’s attacks.

Callum McGregor (C) – 7

Easy street for the captain today, an absolute stroll in midfield. Nothing spectacular but extremely effective as he usually is.

Reo Hatate – 9

Opened the scoring after eight minutes with a stunning curling effort and added a second with a composed finish into the corner. Outstanding display.

Arne Engels – 7

Outshone by his fellow central midfielders but still linked play up well enough. We’re still waiting for a standout Arne Engels performance in the Premiership.

James Forrest – 8

Looked really in the mood from the off and combined with Johnston so well on the right wing. Taken off for Nicolas Kuhn in the second-half.

Daizen Maeda – 8

This guys just never puts in a bad performance these days. His movement terrorised Kilmarnock’s backline. Scored the easiest of tap ins early in the first-half.

Adam Idah – 6

Struggled to hold up the ball when it was fired into him, instead trying to flick it around the defender first time. Didn’t get on the scoresheet on a high scoring day for the Bhoys.
