Celtic have reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup after beating Rangers on penalties.
The Hoops thought they had taken the lead when Daizen Maeda headed home but the goal was ruled out for offside after Liam Scales came back from an offside position before flicking the ball on from Luke McCowan’s cross.
Neither side could break the deadlock in 90 minutes and had to go the distance in extra-time. Rangers thought they had struck gold when Emmanuel Fernandez bundled it home from a corner but VAR overturned it after replays showed it had clearly struck his hand.
In the end the game had to be settled with a penalty shootout, where

Celtic player ratings
Viljami Sinisalo – 7
Fantastic between the sticks again. Came up with some big saves and never hesitated to come off his line when he needed to. That number one spot is his.
Julian Araujo – 6
Another solid display from the right-back. You can always rely on him to put in a shift.
Benjamin Arthur – 6
A decent showing for his first Glasgow derby. A few wobbly moments but that was to be expected. Certainly hasn’t done his chances of featuring regularly any harm.
Auston Trusty – 6
A triumphant return to the starting XI for Trusty due to his ongoing suspension in the league. Had a lot of making up to do following his red card against Hibernian but didn’t put a foot wrong.
Liam Scales (C) – 5
Given the added role of being captain for the day but wasn’t at his best. Playing left-back doesn’t suit his strengths and he needs to be moved back to his normal role instead.
Luke McCowan – 5
Couldn’t get up to the pace of the game and gave the ball away on a number of occasions. No surprise to see that he was one of the first to be substituted.
Reo Hatate – 8
Had to step up due to Callum McGregor’s absence and did so. Was magnificent and got stuck in, which is something we haven’t seen enough of this season.

Benjamin Nygren – 5
Did his defensive duties well but couldn’t really make an impact in the attacking department. Despite being the club’s top scorer, he never really threatened the Rangers goal.
Hyunjun Yang – 4
Practically non-existent for Celtic today. He was so quiet that I forgot he was on the pitch at times.
Sebastian Tounekti – 5
Didn’t get involved in the game but that was also down to not receiving the ball out wide. It’s clear that Tounekti is more effective when used as an impact sub.
Daizen Maeda – 6
Did really well for the goal that was disallowed but wasn’t given much service when up front. As always, he never stopped running and was a nuisance for the Rangers defence.
What can Celtic do to help Daizen Maeda get back to his best?
Substitutes
Dane Murray – 6
Much better showing compared to his performance at Ibrox a week earlier. Came on in difficult circumstances but produced a strong showing.
Tomas Cvancara – 5
Somebody needs to teach Cvancara how to control the ball. His first touch bounced off his foot pretty much every time, killing any momentum in the attacking department.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 5
Experienced head came on to keep the focus but needs to do more from an attacking perspective.
James Forrest – 5
Did alright when he came on and looked a presence when going forward.
Joel Mvuka – 4
All over the place when he came on. His touch was heavy, his crossing was poor and he was lightweight when defending. Not good enough.
Paulo Bernardo – 5
Defended well in the middle of the park and looked lively.
