Celtic have been receiving some terrific praise from the Spanish press ahead of their clash with Valencia.
Popular Valencia newspaper Levante-emv has hailed the Hoops. Journalist Vicent Chilet has labelled Celtic Park as “the main handicap for Valencia.
The article references Celtic on numerous occasions in glowing terms. Speaking in his column, Chilet couldn’t help but sing the praises of the Hoops and their iconic stadium.
“Marcelino’s team takes the pulse of European competitions this Thursday, in Glasgow, measuring the historic Celtic.
“The festive atmosphere that Valencia will find in Celtic Park, the house of Celtic, is the main handicap.
“Celtic commands the Scottish league, six points ahead of Rangers, with a seven-game winning streak, between the league and cup. However, their performances in Europe go down a lot – they qualified for the round of 32 with difficulties and thanks to a Rosenborg goal in the final minutes against Red Bull Leipzig.”
Celtic’s dominance still recognised
Despite the title-race being closer than it has been in recent years, Celtic’s dominance is clearly still recognised abroad.
As always seems to be the case, Celtic Park gets a strong mention from the foreign press. Its iconic atmosphere has taken down the world’s best in the past. Valencia’s local media clearly acknowledges the battle that will be on their side’s hands.
It’s also great for supporters to see that their results in the group stages are being recognised too. Celtic, as always, had the tough route to the last-32 against the likes of RB Leipzig and Salzburg.
Interestingly, Levante-emv’s piece also states that Gabriel Paulista could be available for the trip to Parkhead too. The former Arsenal defender had been struggling heading into the contest, but it’s looking likely he could now feature.
Despite an array of mixed results in Europe over the last few years, it’s pleasing to see Celtic’s stock is still high on the continent.
And as always, Celtic Park is front and centre of the European media’s focus.
