Celtic are back in action tonight against Dundee United, and Brendan Rodgers will be champing at the bit for his side to extend their Scottish Premiership lead over Rangers to 16 points.

Last time out, the Bhoys enjoyed a 3-0 victory over St Mirren as they reacted to a disappointing showing at Ibrox that kicked off the New Year.

Rangers could only muster a draw at Hibernian despite being in the lead twice, leading to Celtic increasing their double-digit advantage at the summit ahead of facing Jim Goodwin’s outfit.

Despite Dundee United’s recent positive form, a surprise loss at home to Heart of Midlothian has left the Tangerines as you were in the race for continental qualification.

Either way, Celtic will need to be at their best after drawing a blank at Tannadice three days before Christmas. Injuries played their part that day, but there is scope for a revenge mission.

Without further ado, 67 Hail Hail take a look at the runners and riders to make Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up this evening.

Celtic potential starting XI vs Dundee Utd

James Forrest is the only absentee for Celtic to worry about against Dundee United, but it will be interesting to see if Rodgers rings the changes for the midweek fixture.

Between the sticks, Kasper Schmeichel will get the nod after keeping yet another clean sheet against St Mirren, which has taken his tally up to 19 for the season.

Comprising the back four, Alistair Johnston earns another start at right-back, while Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty combine to make an all-American central defensive pairing.

Alex Valle has impressed most of his time in green and white. However, Greg Taylor takes the left-back slot after another solid showing at home to the Buddies.

Leading from the front, Callum McGregor will wear the armband and begin in his usual deep-lying midfield berth. Occupying the number eight slots, Arne Engels retains his position following a series of excellent displays in the engine room.

Luke McCowan enjoyed a productive afternoon last Sunday, but Reo Hatate edges him out to take on the role of being a creative foil for Celtic’s attackers.

The Japan international won’t share that burden on his own, with Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda primed to start on either flank against a tight-knit unit that are likely to limit space in the final third.

Finally, Adam Idah drops out for Kyogo Furuhashi through the middle as the latter aims to add to his ten strikes this campaign.

Your predicted starting XI is as follows: Schmeichel, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor, McGregor, Engels, Hatate, Kuhn, Maeda, Kyogo.
