Celtic sent an exciting verdict on what Callum Osmand did on his debut against Falkirk

There have been a few forgotten men from Celtic’s summer transfer window.

One of the players signed by Celtic during the abject 2025 summer transfer window was forward Callum Osmand.

The 19-year-old joined from Fulham, but despite Brendan Rodgers needing more attacking bite and power, he didn’t play a competitive game before the Irishman’s explosive departure on Monday evening.

But on Wednesday evening, with Martin O’Neill returning to the dugout, Osmand was handed his debut as Celtic thrashed Falkirk 4-0 on home soil.

Callum Osmand labelled ‘livewire’ on Celtic debut against Falkirk

Osmand played around 15 minutes, down the middle, and he showed some positive signs on his first competitive outing for Celtic.

Cillian Sheridan was on commentary duty for BBC Radio Scotland, and he stated that, as soon as Osmand came onto the pitch, he had already made ‘two runs in behind’, and was proving to be a ‘livewire.’

Falkirk’s backline had been run ragged following Johnny Kenny’s brace, and Sheridan explained how Osmand was the last type of player they wanted to face.

“He looks like a real livewire,” said Sheridan. “Already, he has made two runs in behind. Looks to be pacey. He anticipated the ball there from Saracchi, which was a great cross.

“From a Falkirk point of view, a back four, whose back four are a bit out on their feet. This is the last kind of striker you want to see coming on against you.

“Especially when he has replaced Maeda. He has gone out to the wing. They are thinking, ‘Hopefully, that means we will get some sort of a rest.’

“But Osmand looks to be the complete opposite. Just constantly going in behind.”

Osmand’s stats on Celtic debut

Given Celtic’s troubles, especially going forward this season, you wonder why Rodgers wasn’t using him. Or was it just a case of the teenager being another ‘club signing’?!

Either way, the Celtic Park faithful are, hopefully, going to see more of Osmand, with the Hoops’ League Cup semi-final against Rangers around the corner.
