The Motherwell draw is just the latest example of how this Celtic team are still under-performing.
Despite some terrific form over the month of November to help get the Hoops on track, problems are still evident at Celtic.
The 1-1 draw at Fir Park wasn’t just a kick in the groin for supporters, but it was also a symbol of how similar Celtic still are to last season. On two occasions, Celtic came to Fir Park last term and could only take a point from the game. Once again, they’ve failed to make their superiority count in a dour performance.
Celtic fans were fearing the worst after around 60 minutes in. Brendan Rodgers desperately threw on Odsonne Edouard and Tom Rogic to save the day. In typical fashion, it made absolutely no difference.
The likes of Rogic, James Forrest, and Ryan Christie had raised their game in recent times. Christie himself is still on fire and is proving to be one of the few bright spots at the moment alongside Filip Benkovic.
Yet outside of that, Celtic are still nowhere near what they can be. It’s been that way for a few weeks now – mainly since beating RB Leipzig 2-1 at Parkhead.

Too many sloppy days
The Fir Park draw didn’t particularly resemble the Livingston stalemate of last month, but it was close. When Celtic had the chances to put Motherwell away tonight, there was a casualness about them after they failed to take them. It was almost like a snobby way of thinking in that Motherwell weren’t good enough to get back into the game.
Unfortunately for Celtic, they were, and they denied the Hoops the chance to top the table again.
Many want to believe Celtic are back to their best. The Betfred Cup has been sealed and everything is rosy in the garden once more. The truth is, however, that these dismal performances are still too frequent in Celtic’s play.
Making seven changes will perhaps bring some rustiness and lack of understanding to a side. But Celtic should be beating the likes of Motherwell and Livingston regardless. All they have to do is keep their concentration levels up and stop being so casual on the ball.
Celtic are still resembling elements of their sloppiness from last season and earlier this term. It’s disappointing for supporters who are itching to wheel away from Rangers.
It’s time Rodgers found his best XI and stopped making mass changes to it. Continuity is key, and consistency is now vital between now and the end of December.
