Celtic’s summer signing Jonathan Afolabi is having a more than decent start to his Celtic career. The free agent scored for the Hoops in the recent 4-2 reserve cup win over Morton.
Scored twice for a Hoops XI

He has since followed this up with a double in the Friendship Cup win over Albion Rovers. Interestingly, the match was watched by Hoops first-team boss Neil Lennon.
It is very early days but this can only be considered a good start to Afolabi’s Celtic career. Neil Lennon must have been impressed with what he saw from the player.
Could eventually feature in first-team squad?

It will be intriguing to see what happens to the player should he keep scoring for the reserve team on a regular basis. Perhaps Neil Lennon would be tempted to give the player a chance in the first team. At the moment, it would probably be too much of a gamble to give the player a first-team chance.
However, the Hoops only have three strikers in the first-team squad at the moment. Of the three, only Odsonne Edouard is scoring on a regular basis.
Therefore, in the future it could be worth giving Afolabi a chance at least in the first-team squad. You don’t know how good players could be unless they are given a chance.
That was the case with Kieran Tierney. Afolabi might not turn out to be as good a player for the Hoops as Tierney was. However, he could still be a valuable player for the club. He should be given a chance at some stage this season.
