Celtic hero Emilio Izaguirre made his domestic return to Parkhead with a convincing 5-1 rout of Kilmarnock.
The Honduran left-back made just his fifth appearance of the season for the Hoops. It was, however, only his second match at Celtic Park and his first in domestic action.
Izaguirre was signed for nothing by the club for a second stint in the summer, having previously spent seven years at the club between 2010 and 2017.

The defender rolled back the years with a sensational attacking display down the left. In the absence of the injured Kieran Tierney, Izaguirre bombed down the flank and consistently whipped crosses into the penalty area. He managed to bag an assist in a productive afternoon for him.
Supporters, as expected, have therefore reaffirmed their love for him on Twitter after the game. Here are some of the reactions to Izaguirre’s domestic return.

Reliable cover for Tierney
Celtic have had a real problem down the left-side in recent times due to a lack of quality cover for Tierney. If Izaguirre, however, continues to perform to that level, then the Hoops will have found their solution.
Tierney has had to play almost every week for Celtic due to a lack of serious cover. Izaguirre has been inconsistent in the past, and has to string together some form when he is thrown back into the side.
What he produced yesterday was a stunning show of attacking full-back play as well as a crossing masterclass. On his game, he’s the second-best left-back in Scotland.

The relationship the Honduran has with the club’s supporters is also a huge plus point for him. Supporters will forever be grateful to the defender for his commitment to the club, particularly when he was attracting interest from elsewhere. He shows a level of faith to Celtic that fans can connect and resonate with.
Hopefully, for he and Celtic’s sake, he can be the answer the club needs to their left-back cover problem. If yesterday was anything to go by, however, then he’s more than just that.
