Celtic supporters enjoyed the performance of midfielder Liam Shaw tonight after he was given a big debut by manager Ange Postecoglou.
Shaw was one of a massive 11 changes from the weekend’s match against Dundee United, making his first start since he signed on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.
It was a pretty accomplished performance, before he was substituted off in the second half. It would be surprising if Postecoglou didn’t call on him again before the end of the season.

He has a strong physical presence in the heart of the pitch, which would undoubtedly suit the Scottish Premiership more than up against a technically proficient Betis outfit.
Shaw came out strong in terms of the raw numbers from FotMob. He won eight of his ten duels, completed three out of three dribbles successfully, made two ball recoveries and registered a tackle. His passing was a little wayward but I think we can excuse that given the circumstances.
Listen – we can’t get carried away here. Shaw has a long way to go at Celtic. But this could genuinely be the start for him after months in the wilderness.
At the very least, sections of the support will light fires for him to feature in the future, which should keep his name in the picture.
That much is clear from tonight, with fans taking to social media to voice their support for the young man’s performance and deliver a verdict on his display tonight…
