Celtic fans are incensed with Jack Hendry, after a poor display in Greece saw Celtic crash of the Champions League.

A 2-1 defeat to AEK on Tuesday night led to the Hoops dropping down into the Europa League playoff. Goals from Rodrigo Galo and Marko Livaja condemned Brendan Rodgers’ men to defeat. Scott Sinclair’s late consolation provided brief hope, but Celtic ultimately bowed out 3-2 on aggregate.

Subsequently, it’s now the first time the Hoops have failed to qualify for the Champions League under Rodgers.

Supporters have since taken to social media to scrutinise the defending.

Jack Hendry appears to be getting it in the neck most of all. The former Dundee defender never looked comfortable in Greece and has been struggling to convince fans of his quality.

Here’s the best of the fan reaction to Hendry’s performance:

Celtic’s Champions League failure has cast a shadow over the club in the short-term. However, a Europa League playoff against either Suduva or Spartaks Jurmala now awaits after the knockout in Greece.

Much of the criticism over the last few days has been levied towards the board. Supporters are agitated at a lack of signings since the summer window began.

Morale needs boosting at Parkhead, and a run of domestic success would at least bring some confidence back to the club.

Therefore, a good result when Celtic travel to Partick Thistle on Saturday would certainly be ideal.
