Celtic team news and Predicted XI vs Ross County with a first league start of the season now due

Celtic take on Ross County in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday looking to get back to winning ways after midweek disappointment.

Brendan Rodgers’ side were poor in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund and have had a long week ruminating on the defeat.

However, they can move on positively by maintaining their 100% record domestically away to Don Cowie’s side.

Ross County have already made their game plan public – resolute defending and physical ‘dark arts’ in an attempt to stop the Bhoys play. It promises to be a battle.

Celtic squad update ahead of Ross County

The manager has spent the week regrouping his players and preparing them to show resilience after the setback in Germany.

There are two confirmed Celtic absences for the encounter: Cameron Carter-Vickers, who will miss out due to a foot injury, and Greg Taylor, who will also be unavailable because of a calf complaint.

However, there was good news on Alistair Johnston. Despite a back issue, he was involved in training on Friday and should be available.

Potential Celtic team in the Highlands

Kasper Schmeichel will continue in goal and could help Celtic set a new clean sheet record of seven wins and seven shutouts at the start of the league season.

Hopefully, Alistair Johnston will make the starting line-up, although Anthony Ralston is available in reserve if Rodgers doesn’t want to risk the Canadian.

Auston Trusty and Liam Scales will partner up in central defence again, while Barcelona loanee Alex Valle is ready to make his first Premiership start of the season.

Reo Hatate’s creative guile and composure will be a welcome addition back into the midfield. Callum McGregor and Arne Engels are expected to continue to complete the central trio.

In attack, there’s no real reason to switch up from Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi, all of whom were electric last week away to St Johnstone.

Adam Idah will be available from the bench to mix things up in the second half if Celtic need a more physical threat to counteract the County gameplan.

Your Predicted XI in full is: Schmeichel, Johnston, Trusty, Scales, Valle, McGregor, Engels, Hatate, Kuhn, Maeda, Kyogo.
