John Kennedy has named his Celtic team for today’s clash against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Bain, Kenny, Bitton, Welsh, Taylor, McGregor, Brown (C), Turnbull, Christie, Elyounoussi, Edouard

Substitutes – Hazard, Griffiths, Soro, Rogic, Murray, Montgomery, Ralston, Dembele, Laxalt

It’s a very intriguing line-up indeed. Nir Bitton comes in for Kristoffer Ajer, who doesn’t even make the bench. The subs have a youthful feel about them, with Dane Murray, Adam Montgomery and Karamoko Dembele all hoping for minutes.

It’s an interesting one for Celtic midfielder Scott Brown, who will be joining Stephen Glass in the summer. Certainly, his next manager didn’t want him to take part, but only because he can be a threat to Aberdeen [Scottish Sun]. Prior to kick-off, John Kennedy claimed he wasn’t entirely sure as to whether the captain would get the nod [The Herald].

Still, he does, adding subtext to a game which may have lacked in drama. John Kennedy has made some bold decisions here, but Jonjoe Kenny remaining in the team will have fans scratching their heads.

Fan reaction to line-up for Celtic v Aberdeen

With some significant changes to the first-team, there was obviously going to be a reaction to Kennedy’s line-up. The lack of Ismaila Soro has confounded, but Karamoko Dembele on the bench has been a talking point.

While the game holds little material importance, it’s a chance for some younger Celtic players to impress. If fringe squad members were ever likely to get minutes, now’s the time.
