Celtic team v Falkirk confirmed: Forrest makes big return, TV details, fans react
John Kennedy has announced his Celtic team for tonight’s Scottish Cup clash at home to Falkirk, per the official website.
The full match squad is as follows:
Starting XI – Bain, Kenny, Ajer, Welsh, Laxalt, Brown, Turnbull, Rogic, Forrest, Christie, Griffiths.
Substitutes – Barkas, Taylor, Duffy, Ajeti, Soro, Edouard, Elyounoussi, McGregor, Ralston.
It’s a big game for Celtic tonight.
Whatever happens in the Scottish Cup, it won’t make up for what else has occurred during this campaign, but it would make for a great pre-cursor to next term.
With Eddie Howe potentially in the door next week, Kennedy’s players have a great chance to impress him tonight too.
The big news is that James Forrest starts his first match for over six months.
Elsewhere, Leigh Griffiths gets a big opportunity to shine.
It’s a strong team, hampered by exertions during the international break. It should be good enough to win.
Tonight’s game is not on the club’s ‘Pass To Paradise’ streaming service for season ticket holders. Although it takes place at home, Celtic do not hold the rights to the fixture.
Celtic TV will be broadcasting live coverage, for subscribers to the separate service, outside of the UK & Ireland.
The match will be broadcast on Premier Sports 1.
For those who cannot tune in there, BBC Radio Scotland is providing live audio commentary online.
Supporters in the USA can watch on ESPN+.
Fan reaction to Celtic team v Falkirk
The Forrest return is welcome, however, plenty of fans have other issues with the selection.
Is it wise to play Scott Brown when he’s confirmed to leave this summer? Leigh Griffiths in attack on his own? A lack of youth on the bench?
These are all talking points ahead of kick-off.
Supporters have taken to social media to share their thoughts on it all…
Kennedy has picked up a team so bad that he’s clearly trying to put Howe off the job 😂 https://t.co/B1KTdD9yMU

Barkas should be starting this. A lot more youth should be on that bench also. https://t.co/suEeXaFw0s

Right now we should be playing Soro in that midfield with brown going at the end of the season. https://t.co/kMUNpYGQu7

Looks a pretty attacking side with both Rogic and Turnbull in the side. Guess would be Christie and Forrest wide?
A good win will do nicely https://t.co/meCevrUMHe
