Manager Brendan Rodgers has named his Celtic team vs Rangers for today’s Scottish Premiership derby at Ibrox.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Hart, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor, Iwata, O’Riley, Hatate, Kuhn, Maeda, Kyogo.

Substitutes – Bain, Idah, Yang, Nawrocki, Bernardo, McGregor, Forrest, Ralston, Welsh.

There’s been quite a build-up to this derby. With so many potential ramifications involving the ongoing title race, supporters are excited about what can unfold.

If Celtic avoid defeat they will be in a strong position heading into the final run of matches, while a victory would make them red hot favourites to lift the silverware. Defeat meanwhile, well, let’s not think about that.

The big news in today’s team is that captain Callum McGregor hasn’t quite made it into the starting eleven after injury. He could however make an appearance from the bench.

It’s an unchanged team from last week’s victory over Livingston.

Instant verdict on Celtic team vs Rangers

It was the correct decision not to take too many risks with McGregor, despite his importance to the squad and the team. As discussed earlier, this was the best eleven to go with based on the status of all the players.

McGregor will be needed for the rest of the games this season and Tomoki Iwata is more than capable of anchoring that midfield. No doubt the captain will make an appearance in the second half.

Elsewhere, Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda deserve their chance to shine on the wings and we know that Kyogo Furuhashi can be devastating in this fixture. Let’s get it done Celtic!
