Celtic trio get international start in Nations League encounter

Some Celtic fans might not watch every Scotland game, with the Hoops being the most important side to the vast majority of fans, you would imagine.

However, any Scottish Celtic fans looking to watch the national team in action against Israel in the Nations League now have three reasons to do so.

Familiar trio start game

Three Celtic players have been picked by Steve Clarke to start the game. The trio are: Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Ryan Christie.

The team was announced a short time ago on the national team’s Twitter account.

It should also be pointed out that there is the possibility of a fourth Celtic player featuring in the game. Greg Taylor is on the bench, and he has been in decent form recently, so he could feature if required.

There are also some old Bhoys playing, Kieran Tierney starts, with Oliver Burke and Stuart Armstrong on the bench.

It will be interesting to see how the Celtic trio fare for Scotland, in a game which is a dress rehearsal for the Euro 2020 semi-final clash between the teams.

Up and down seasons so far

For Celtic, Forrest, McGregor and Christie have had up and down seasons so far. Christie wasn’t really helped by playing as a striker against Ferencvaros.

However, for Scotland you imagine that he will be back in his midfield role, alongside McGregor. Forrest will be on the wing, and he has had success against Israel before – scoring a hat-trick in a 3-2 win back in 2018.

The most important thing for Neil Lennon will be that the trio avoid injury. However, it will only benefit the Hoops if the players turn in a good display for Scotland. Once you are on a good run of form it can continue from game to game no matter what competition and team you play for.

Hopefully that applies to the Celtic trio that start, and perhaps even Greg Taylor.

In other news, James Forrest could play against his brother, and he’s excited.
