Last season, Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard missed the Scottish Cup Final with a hamstring injury. In the end, although unfortunate for the player, the Hoops still prevailed in the cup.
Moussa Dembele took his place in the side, and Celtic cruised to a 2-0 victory over Motherwell.
This season, Dembele could once again miss the cup final. The Daily Record recently reported that he is struggling with an ankle injury.
Vital that player makes game
This time around, the Hoops don’t have Dembele for the cup final. Therefore, all at the club will be desperately hoping that Edouard is fit for the cup final.
The Hoops have struggled to score goals at times this season. Edouard is the only player to score 20 or more goals this season, with 21 goals.
The cup final would be a much more difficult task for Celtic if they are forced to play without a recognised striker.
Big decision to make
Should Edouard miss the game, Neil Lennon would have a big decision to make. He would have to find a player to play up-front, who is not a natural striker.
Perhaps Scott Sinclair could perform the role, or Mikey Johnston. However, should Edouard declare himself fit the problem will be solved.
Celtic fans will be awaiting the team announcement on Saturday with bated breath. They will breathe a huge sigh of relief if Edouard makes the starting line-up.
