Odsonne Edouard has been in terrific form for Celtic this season. Now his talents are being rewarded on the international stage.

The Hoops striker was given a huge vote of confidence as he was given his first start for the French under-21 side in their recent game against the Czech Republic.

Edouard was handed this chance by manager Sylvain Ripoli after scoring two goals in his under-21 debut as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Albania.

In his first start, the Hoops striker continued his excellent run of form with two goals in the 3-1 win over the Czech Republic.

Perhaps the standard of under-21 football isn’t the absolute very best. However, Edouard deserves plenty of credit for adapting to that level of play so quickly.

Should Edouard keep up his excellent performances, he is bound to be the first choice striker for the French under-21 side.

That will no doubt attract attention from clubs in France. For now though, Edouard is a Celtic player. Clubs may be interested in him. However, they cannot make any move for the player.

It is very unlikely Celtic would even contemplate selling Edouard in the January transfer window. He is far too important to the quest for nine in a row.

For now, Edouard can get on with what he does best – scoring goals. For the moment, he is able to do both with aplomb for club and country. All parties involved will be hopeful that his excellent run of form doesn’t end any time soon.
