Celtic's Predicted XI vs Suduva
As they get set for a return to Europa League action, we look at how Celtic will line-up against Suduva.
Brendan Rodgers made six changes in the team that beat Partick Thistle 3-1 at Firhill on Saturday. Leigh Griffiths, Moussa Dembele, and Tom Rogic all notched in an overall unconvincing display.
The result did, however, leave the Celtic manager with several things to ponder.
Cristian Gamboa bagged two assists against Partick. However, generally, his defensive play let him down in a performance that wasn’t overwhelming.
Mikael Lustig was mainly brought out of the side due to poor defending against AEK Athens in the Champions League. Gamboa has yet to show he can defend to a much higher quality.
Whilst the Costa Rican international gets up and down the right flank well, it’ll take more than that to break into this Celtic side. Rodgers is most likely to revert back to what he knows with Lustig.
Down the other side, Kieran Tierney will come back in. The Scottish international is a huge hit with supporters. Despite Emilio Izaguirre’s impressive re-debut on Saturday, Tierney won’t be displaced for European ties.
It would be a surprise to see anyone other than Jack Hendry and Kristoffer Ajer in defence, with options sparse.
However, changes to the midfield is a certainty. Callum McGregor is likely to come in for Scott Sinclair down the left, whilst James Forrest will displace Mikey Johnston. Neither players dropping out did anything wrong. However, McGregor and Forrest are in-form and have to start.
Give Griff a chance
Moussa Dembele has returned and also bagged almost immediately after coming on at the weekend. However, Griffiths is the man with the jersey at the moment, and hasn’t done anything to warrant being dropped.
