Change in formation could lead to end of Celtic goal drought

By Celtic’s high standards, the club are in the middle of a goal drought at the moment. The team’s last two league games resulted in 0-0 draws.

Neil Lennon will be wanting a third consecutive stalemate when Kilmarnock come to Celtic Park on Saturday. It is highly likely that Steve Clarke’s side will be defensive, and stick as many men behind the ball as possible.

As a result, it could be tough for the Hoops to break down the Rugby Park side. Therefore, it could take a change in formation to get the Hoops back on track.

Change in formation may be required

Neil Lennon has not played two strikers together since he returned to the club as interim manager.

He has played Odsonne Edouard mostly as a lone striker. However, that has its flaws as often he drifts out of the penalty box and onto the wings.

Lennon should consider playing another attacker alongside Edouard. Not behind the striker, as Oliver Burke did, but up with Edouard in a two man strike force.

Loanee is suited to the task

The player that seems most suited to the task is Timothy Weah.

He has shown in his brief time at the club he has an eye for goal, and his speed could help to break through the Kilmarnock defence.

It remains to be seen if Lennon will change his formation. He seems to like playing with one striker. However, the Hoops are in need of the points against Kilmarnock to all but clinch the league title. A change in tactics could be just what is required to pick up the victory.
